UNIST provides international students with a free on-campus insurance which covers accidents happening during lectures and school-related activities. But for accidents un-related with those events must be covered with an individual health insurance. Due to the high cost of medical treatments, IT IS COMPULSORY for all international students to purchase an individual health insurance which covers medical treatments and accidents occurring outside campus. If you are a holder of any insurance which covers accidents in Korea, please hand in a copy of your insurance certificate to UNIST International Center. If otherwise, you should take out an insurance policy within Korea. Be advised that the insurance does not cover all medical issues, so please contact the company for more details.
